Diverse Communities to gather at Oregon State Capitol for May Day Commemoration
Latino, Immigrant, Faith, Labor and LGBT Communities and Students to commemorate International Workers Day in Salem
SALEM, ORE. – On Sunday, members of the Latino, Immigrant, Faith, Labor and LGBT Communities, Students and others will gather at the Oregon State Capitol in commemoration of May Day.
May Day, or International Worker’s Day, is a day of celebration of the social and economic achievements of the labor movement.
Participants will gather on the State Capitol steps at 10:30 am on Sunday May 1st for an Ecumenical Service, which will feature clergy members from all over Oregon. A March and Rally will follow directly after the service at 11:30am.

During the event, speakers will highlight important issues facing Oregonians including Driver's License Access, Tuition Equity & Quality Education, Safe Communities, Public Safety, Healthcare Equity, Justice for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgendered Immigrants, Affordable Housing, Jobs & Economic Recovery and Family Unity.
