Release: Senator Smith Betrays Immigrant Workers and Families

This morning in the U.S. Senate, a motion to proceed on the Comprehensive Immigration Reform bill was defeated in a vote of 46-53. Below is the statement of CAUSA, Oregon’s statewide immigrant rights coalition.

Salem, OR – This morning, 53 members of the U.S. Senate failed the American people when they voted against moving Comprehensive Immigration Reform forward.

We applaud Senator Ron Wyden for his courage and bi-partisanship in voting in favor of the cloture motion. We are very disappointed in Senator Gordon Smith for his lack of leadership and courage. >>read our entire release
