Child of Immigrant Parent Elected President of the United States

The historical election of Barack Obama as the first black American to be elected president of the United States is also significant as he is the seventh child of an immigrant parent to be elected to the office. Barack Obama's father was born in the village of Nyang’oma Kogelo in Kenya and immigrated to the United States at the age of 23.

According to Wiki Info, President Elect Obama joins former U.S. Presidents Thomas Jefferson, James Buchanan, Chester Arthur, Woodrow Wilson, Herbert Hoover and Andrew Jackson as children of immigrants to be elected to the Nation’s highest office.

Barack Obama's election to the Presidency of The United States keeps with America's tradition as being a country of immigrants.
