Regional Bus Tour for Immigration Reform to Hold Actions in Nampa and Burley, Idaho Today

DAY 4: Regional Bus Tour for Immigration Reform to Hold Actions in Nampa and Burley, Idaho Today

OntarioOre.— Today, the March for ONE Oregon Bus Tour heads to Nampa, Idaho for lunch at noon with Riders from the Idaho Tour Bus and local immigration reform supporters and then will travel to Burley, Idaho with the Idaho Bus Tour for a joint Dinner and Rally at 7:30pm.

Yesterday during Day 3 of the March for ONE Oregon Tour for Immigration Reform, the Bus arrived in La Grande at around noon. Riders had lunch with local immigration reform supporters then marched to Congressman Greg Walden’s Office. After a meeting with Congressman Walden's staff, over 200 La Grande Residents Gathered for a discussion of fair and just immigration policies.

Karen Wagner, a La Grande Resident and member of Rural Oregon Action had this to say:

“Thanks for a great stop-over in LaGrande today. It was fun, informative, lively, enlightening, and SUNNY! Thanks for including us in your very well organized tour! We stand united!”

During the Bus Ride from La Grande to Ontario, March for One Oregon Riders issued a Statement of Support for Trinity Episcopal Church—the Bend church that was the target of arson and vandalism on early Wednesday morning. The church hosted the March for ONE Oregon group on Tuesday for the Kick-off of the Bus Tour. See the PDF of the statement issued by the group here:

Arriving in Ontario, 300 residents joined Bus riders for a Solidarity March for Immigration Reform through downtown Ontario and for a gathering at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Many of the speaker professed their sadness and support for the Trinity Episcopal Church.

Ramon Ramirez, President of PCUN told the crowd in attendance, "We all must carry Trinity Church in our hearts and it will become a symbol of the struggle we’re involved in."

Tomorrow, March for ONE Oregon Bus Riders will connect with riders from the Washington Bus Tour, allies and local residents in Walla, Walla, Washington.
