Voz and day laborers entering the final stage in opening a Day Laborer Center in Portland. Next Wednesday March 5, 2008, City Council have a final public vote in City Hall to decide whether to grant Voz funding to manage a day laborer work center. General media has been notified and we know there will be opposition to the work center from anti-immigrant groups and some neighborhoods, this coming Wednesday.
Your support is very important for this final vote next week. We ask you to come and support a day laborer center where they can wait for work in more dignified, and safe way. There will be opportunity to testify for about three minutes per person so come prepared to testify if you can.
