American Dreamer Awards to be held on December 10th in Portland

On December 10th, Causa will host it's 2013 American Dreamer Awards. During the event,  four outstanding organizations and individuals will be honored for their work and advocacy in helping individuals achieve the American Dream.

All proceeds will benefit Causa's 2014 work to advance immigrant rights and integration in Oregon.

This year’s American Dreamer Awards will go to: 

  • Victoria Lara is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Lara Media Services. Victoria is also a tireless advocate and volunteer for the Latino community. She works to provide resources and services that connect the Latino community with state and federal agencies along with businesses.
  • Basic Rights Oregon (BRO) is the state’s chief advocacy, education, and political organization dedicated to ending discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. BRO is a leader in the effort to win the freedom to marry in Oregon and is also a leader in Oregon’s Trans Justice and Racial Justice movements.
  • Immigrant Law Group is a public interest focused private law firm of human rights lawyers that defend immigrants and their families. They stop unjust deportations, file petitions for spouses and children, provide counsel to same-sex couples seeking unification, and assist immigrants in becoming United States citizens.
  • Rural Organizing Project (ROP) is a statewide organization that advances democracy in rural Oregon. ROP works with over 65 rural volunteer groups to organize around issues that impact human dignity and advance inclusive democracy.
