PHOTOS: 400 Turn out to Immigrant Action Day in Salem

Salem, Ore.-- Today, over 400 people from around Oregon and Southern Washington turn out to Causa's 14th Annual Immigrant Action Day to hear about work being done to restore driver’s licenses for all, stop local law enforcement collaboration with ICE, improve education and promote equality for all members of our community.


Today's event was sponsored by the Multicultural Center and the group JUNTOS at Chemeketa Community College, the Salem-Keizer Coalition for Equality and with the support of Voz Hispana and Mujeres Luchadoras Progresistas.

Over 100 people turn-out for Day of Solidarity against SB1070 in Portland

Portland, OreOver 100 people from Oregon's faith, immigrant and ethnic communities and their supporters gathered for a rally on Thursday to stand in solidarity against SB1070, Arizona's racial profiling law.

During the action, which took place at Holladay Park in NE Portland, people could engage in several activities including watching a skit about the harmful affects on the community that Local Police and ICE cooperation brings, signing a letter to Congress and posing for a photo with a sign to send to lawmakers and Arizona Governor Jan Brewer.

On Thursday, CAUSA held it's 1st Annual Reaching the American Dream Gala to honor men and women in our community who have attained the American Dream or who have helped others to reach it. Thank you to the 20 sponsors and the over 320 people who attended and helped make this event a complete success!

PHOTO: Marching for Immigration Reform at December 5th Mobilization in Portland

On Saturday, over 2000 people including a broad coalition of over 75 labor, environmental, faith, human rights and community organizations from across Oregon held a march and rally against the World Trade Organization in Downtown Portland.


This was a photo taken of one supporter of Comprehensive Immigration Reform during the march. There were many people scattered throughout the march carrying signs and calling for passage of just and human immigration reform.

This photo was taken on Friday in Bend where over a hundred supporters of Immigration Reform joined with CAUSA, Central Oregon Jobs with Justice and Recursos Para Derechos Humanos to call on Congressman Walden to support Comprehensive Immigration Reform legislation this year.

Reform Immigration FOR America at DeFazio Town Hall

Eugene, Ore.--Constituents showed up today at a Eugene Town Hall to call on Congressman Peter DeFazio (D-OR) to support Comprehensive Immigration Reform. The Congressman spoke to a large crowd at the Hilton Eugene and Conference Center.

Although most questions were in regard to Healthcare Reform, one constituent urged the Oregon Congressman to support reform of the U.S. Immigration System making it more humane and just for immigrants coming to the country.

Congressman DeFazio is scheduled to speak later this evening at the Springfield City Hall.

This week a delegation from Oregon is in Washington D.C. attending the Reform Immigration FOR America Summit.

Photos: Cesar Chavez Day Demonstration in Portland


M.E.Ch.A. de Portland State and Las Mujeres held a demonstration honoring Cesar Chavez in Portland today. The event paid tribute to an individual who not only inspires Chicanos and Latinos, but all those who champion for workers’ rights and equality. The demonstration will also address ongoing campaigns in the state of Oregon. Cesar Chavez, former leader of the United FarmWorkers, fought for improving the working conditions of agricultural workers by leading national boycotts and marches across America.
